Application Status: Pending

Pi Learning Academy has applied to the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) for approval as a PEP Hybrid school. This approval has not yet been granted. We are publishing this page as part of that application process, so families and reviewers can see exactly what we've applied for. We'll update this page — and notify families using the PEP scholarship — as soon as a decision is made.

A PEP Hybrid school is a private school approved by FLDOE to serve students on the Personalized Education Program (PEP) scholarship in a hybrid format: students attend classes in person at the school's physical campus at least two full school days per week, and complete the remainder of their instructional time at home under a Student Learning Plan the family files annually with Step Up For Students.

PEP is a Florida scholarship program, administered by Step Up For Students, that provides funding for eligible students' education outside the traditional public school classroom. PEP Hybrid is one specific way a private school can participate — distinct from full-time enrollment, and requiring its own FLDOE approval.

How PEP Hybrid Works

Two Days On Campus, The Rest At Home

The model we've applied to offer, based on Florida's PEP Hybrid requirements.

In-Person Attendance

At least two full school days per week, on our Brandon, FL campus

PEP Hybrid students attend classes in person at our physical location at least two full school days each week, working directly with our qualified teachers. Our existing two-day and three-day part-time enrichment schedules are already structured to meet this requirement.

Student Learning Plan

Filed annually by the family through Step Up For Students' EMA portal

Instructional time on the remaining days is completed at home. Families document how that time is used in a Student Learning Plan, submitted each year directly to Step Up For Students — separate from anything our school files.

FLDOE Approval Required

Not every private school qualifies to offer PEP Hybrid

A private school must be specifically approved by the Florida Department of Education to offer PEP Hybrid — it's a distinct approval from general private school registration. Pi Learning Academy's application for this approval is currently under review.

The PEP Scholarship

Personalized Education Program · administered by Step Up For Students

PEP is one of the scholarship programs Pi Learning Academy already accepts for our homeschool enrichment families. PEP Hybrid is a specific, additionally-approved way for PEP families to combine in-person instruction with at-home learning.

Tuition

PEP Hybrid enrollment is billed at the same rate as our full-time private school program: $11,000 per year. Families using the PEP scholarship apply their award toward this tuition; any remaining balance is the family's responsibility.

For families who prefer a monthly schedule, tuition can be paid as $1,100 per month for 10 months, due on the 4th of each month from August to May — matching our standard full-time payment schedule.

PEP Hybrid Tuition

Annual
Paid in full
$11,000/yr
Monthly
10 payments, Aug-May

Same rate as our full-time private school tuition. PEP scholarship funds apply toward this amount.

Common Questions

Is Pi Learning Academy an approved PEP Hybrid school?

Not yet. We have submitted an application to the Florida Department of Education for approval. This page will be updated as soon as a decision is made.

How many in-person days would a PEP Hybrid student attend?

At least two full school days per week, in person at our Brandon, FL campus. Our existing two-day and three-day part-time enrichment schedules are structured to meet this requirement.

What happens on the days a student isn't on campus?

Instructional time on non-attendance days is completed at home, documented in a Student Learning Plan the family files annually with Step Up For Students.

Is PEP Hybrid the same as your Home School Enrichment program?

They overlap, but they're not the same thing. Home School Enrichment is our own part-time program; PEP Hybrid is a specific FLDOE-approved status for serving PEP scholarship students within that kind of schedule. Our part-time enrichment days are structured to meet the PEP Hybrid attendance requirement, but the PEP Hybrid designation itself depends on FLDOE approval, which is still pending.

How much does PEP Hybrid cost?

PEP Hybrid tuition is $11,000 per year, the same rate as our full-time private school program. Families can also pay $1,100 per month over 10 months (August through May). PEP scholarship funds apply toward this amount.
