A Nonprofit Private School in Hillsborough County

Pi Learning Academy is a nonprofit private school in Hillsborough County, Florida, accredited by the Florida Department of Education. We teach the same core curriculum your local public school does — reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and hands-on STEM — but in a much smaller setting, where every child is actually known by name.

If your child has been having a rough time in a bigger public or private school — whether it's bullying, getting lost in a class of 25 or more kids, trouble concentrating, or just coming home every day unhappy — this is exactly who we built this school for. Small classes aren't a marketing line for us; they're the whole point. With fewer kids in the room, our teachers actually see each child: where they're thriving, where they need more time, and what makes them light up. Kids who felt invisible or overwhelmed somewhere else often start to come out of their shell within a few weeks of being here.

As parents ourselves — including parents of a child on the autism spectrum — we know how hard it is to watch your kid dread going to school, and how rare it is to find a place that takes the time to really know them. Our teachers aren't just running through a lesson plan. They're building relationships, meeting kids where they are, and helping them learn to enjoy school again.

Because we follow Florida state standards, your child stays on track whether they stay with us through sixth grade or eventually transition back to another school. What we offer that a bigger school typically can't: weekly field trips, hands-on projects, flexible pacing, and one-on-one attention whenever a child needs it.

  • Flexible Learning Options: Students can choose in-person or online sessions with customized curriculum options to fit their learning style.
  • Small Class Sizes: Almost 1-to-1 teacher-to-student ratio ensures personalized attention and academic support for every child.
  • Engaging Experiences: Hands-on STEM projects and weekly field trips provide interactive, real-world learning opportunities.
  • Safe & Inclusive Environment: Secure facilities, trained staff, and a focus on respect create a supportive space for all students.

Proudly Approved by Step Up For Students

We are proud to be an approved provider for the Step Up for Students scholarship program. Additionally, we accept the Unique Abilities (FES-UA) and Personalized Education Program (FTC-PEP) scholarships. These programs allow eligible families to use scholarship funds for our personalized homeschooling services. We also offer a direct-pay option for families who prefer that method of payment.

We are a private Hillsborough County school but we cannot take FTC-EO scholarship yet.

If your child qualifies for any of these scholarships, we are happy to assist you in navigating the application process. For more details on eligibility and how to apply, please visit the scholarship websites or contact us for further assistance.

Curriculum Options

Our Pi Learning Academy offers three curriculum options: Parent-Provided Curriculum, where students bring their own materials for support and enrichment; Florida Virtual School (FLVS), with educator guidance for online learning, scheduling, and practice; and Customized Curriculum, tailored by teachers using diagnostic assessments aligned with Florida Standards, ensuring continuous progress monitoring.

Wednesday Field Trips

Every Wednesday, students embark on exciting educational field trips to museums, nature reserves, science centers, and other enriching locations. These outings provide hands-on learning experiences that complement classroom instruction, fostering curiosity and real-world connections.

Most field trips are free of charge for our full-time students. On occasion, a specific field trip may carry an additional fee — in those cases, we will notify parents in advance with the exact cost and details so you can plan accordingly.

Parents are encouraged to join as chaperones to ensure a safe and engaging experience for all students. To participate, students must bring a signed permission slip, a disposable lunch, and necessary outdoor essentials like sunscreen and bug spray.

Accommodations

Pi Learning Academy supports students with diverse learning needs, including those with IEPs, 504 plans, EPs, or other academic accommodations. While we do not provide sustained one-on-one academic or behavioral support, we welcome students who require additional assistance, such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy or Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT). These professionals may accompany students during program hours with prior notice and proper documentation. Our goal is to ensure that every child receives reasonable accommodations to support their educational journey.

  • Full-Time Enrollment: Tuition is $9,500 per year or $5,000 per semester for Monday-Friday attendance.
  • Additional Fees: A one-time enrollment fee of $100 applies. Most field trips are free for full-time students; occasional paid trips will be announced in advance.
